Car Hire Austria photoAustria is a beautiful but mostly mountainous country making it a popular skiing destination all year round. The scenery is breathtaking and its cities are rich in culture and architecture. Innsbruck is one of the largest ski resorts in the world where, as well as great skiing, you can enjoy a vibrant night life. In Vienna you can see St Stephen's Cathedral with its 15th century Romanesque/Gothic architecture and The Hofburg Palace, home of the Hapsburg family for 600years, a magnificent structure with beautiful gardens. Being the capital city it is also where you will find Austria's main international airport. In Salzburg you can visit the birth place of Mozart and see the Hohensalzburg Fortress which was constructed in the 11th Century. The clock tower in Graz is the emblem of the city and dates back to the 16th Century. Here you will also find the Schlossberg Cave Railway, the longest grotto railway in Europe which has fairytale views that both children and adults will love.

Whether you are planning to visit Austria on business or for a holiday, enjoy the benefits of hiring a car and the flexibility and freedom of having your own transport. Auto Europe offers airport car rental at all major pick up locations together with a large rental car fleet, so finding car hire in Austria is both easy and economical

To drive on the motorways and expressways in Austria you must purchase a toll sticker which can bought from most petrol station or tobacconists. There is also an additional toll payable on the major expressways - A13 Bremner, A9 Pyhm, A10 Tauren and S16 Arlberg Tunnel.

  • You need: A valid driving license, passport/ID and a valid credit card.
  • You drive: On the right so remember to give away traffic from your left when using roundabouts.
  • Speed limit: Motorway 130 km/h, open roads 100 km/h, within city limits 50 km/h.

  • Parking rules: You should always use off street car parks to park. If you do park on the road always park on the right, your car must not face traffic. Do not park on a white line at a bus stop. Do not park on yellow or red road lines or within 10 feet/3metres of a fire hydrant.
