What to do: Visit Vilnius which has a rich history and visit places like Gediminas' Tower which is the only remains of the Upper Castle which was built in 1740 but is part of a group of defensive buildings within the Vilnius Castle Complex. Within this also includes Cathedral Square, the Royal Palace of Lithuania and the National Museum of Lithuania. There are also more than 40 beautiful churches to see such as St. Anne's Church, the church of the Bernardine Monastery and the Orthodox Cathedral of the Theotokos.
Where to drive: Drive to Kaunas and visit its excellent Rumsiskes Open Air ethnographic museum, built in 18th -19th Century, which displays the heritage of Lithuanian rural life including dwelling houses, farmstead buildings and folk art monuments. On your way into the city you can also visit the beautiful Pazaislis Monastery, built in the 17th Century, which lay on the banks of the Kaunas man-made sea. Most of Kaunas town was built between 15th -18th Centuries and the old buildings such as Vytautas Church, Unity Square show this beautiful town for what it is. Also a unique place to visit is the Devil's museum which houses a collection of three thousand carvings and sculptures of devils from all over the world.
