To hire a car in Ireland, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your license for 2 years.
Generally the minimum Ireland age restriction is 21 years, but can vary between the car hire company. Drivers aged 23 and under and over the age of 70 may incur an additional fee locally. There is a maximum age of 75 for car hire in Cork and other destinations.

Ireland road rules are the same as those in Britain. Most petrol stations are open from 7.00am to 7.00pm. There are petrol stations open 24 hours in some major cities.
In Ireland, toll payment is required in the following roads: M1, M4, East Link Bridge and West Link Bridge. Ireland Toll amounts are dependent on the vehicle category and can range from €1 to €6 approximately.
For parking in Ireland you will find that most cities have metres or pay-and-display parking. You will need to buy a ticket for a specific amount of time and display it on your windshield. Parking where there is a double yellow line is prohibited.
Domestic one-way rentals are unrestricted and typically free of charge, exceptions do apply. The only international one-way rental available is to Belfast, Northern Ireland.
