I am very satisfied with Auto Europe, but bar above not working properly so I hope I have registered this correctly.
Website for booking excellent in that I can see and choose which car hire company I book with, and I can choose a firm with free additional driver when I want one.

I am satisfied with Locauto and will use them again.
They try to give me the type of car I ask for - usually a Fiat Panda which goes up the very steep road with hairpin bends to my Sicilian house.
They offer an additional driver free which I need when my partner comes with me.
One problem this time. The radio / CD player did not work for the whole trip and ruined a new CD I took with me.

I took out my own annual insurance from Questor Insurance to cover CDW. Auto Europe could offer this.

.Some indication about the strange pick up procedure at Palermo airport would have saved time.There were no signs in the airport about the rent a car procedure and the minibus ride to the offices of Locauto.

We were a bit disappointed that we didn't get the Fiat 500 that we'd hired. The Volkswagen Up! was fine, though.
Our main gripe was the fact that we had to pay for a full tank of petrol which we didn't need for our short stay. It was returned with nearly more than a quarter of a tank left for which there was no reimbursement. It is fairer for the customer to pay for the petrol they actually use.
Apart from this we were satisfied with the service. Thanks

Avis staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Car was a different story. Upgraded which I did not want in Italy as I prefer smaller cars. Condition was very rough. Well worn and dented. Gearbox at the end of its life. I finally resorted to double de-clutching which resolved the difficulty. Did not inform Avis as I was concerned they might blame me for gearbox which was definitely not the case..

Booking car with you was very easy and your follow up email etc very reassuring. One thing that was annoying was the full insurance cost that I felt I needed to have when I picked up the car. If I had known the cost I wouldn't have taken out insurance cover in the UK. So overall your competitive price turned out to have a big sting in the tail.

Pick up at airport was good and easy.however I was very disappointed at the cost for full insurance which we felt we needed to buy as the excess costs seemed to be enormous......210 euros for this .I would have liked to have been advised about this before booking.the car itself was a Fiat Panda that ran out of power when the air on was switched on , and I needed to be in first gear to get up the hills in Sicily. Overall not really that impressed with Advantage , would not use them again.

Service rep who handled our hire was ok, but not very friendly. He told us the airport in Catania could be closed when we return the car. Rubbish. He started our transaction, then abandoned it in favour of another customer. Not impressed with how he handled this.

Booking was very easy, however we were under the impression that sensible excess had been made available, rather than the 1400 euros which, to cover, would have costed more than the actual car rental. Previously the excess had been about 500 euros.

Long wait because of queue at desk, about 3/4 hour (and there was still a long queue behind us! On return I was concerned as to how the staff in the office dealt with somebody's lost property (looked like expensive camera) which they found in a car. It was just shoved on a shelf, not tagged with no effort to contact the owner at the airport. I suggested they do this a couple of times but no notice was taken. In future I will be more aware of who the actual car hire company is.
On the plus side the little panda did its job very well. Ideal for the roads round Sicily.
