  • The car I got had a faulty charger, which caused me issues as my sat nav would not work. When I reported this to the desk they said there was nothing they could do as they had given me an upgrade. I had not asked for an upgraded I just wanted a car where my sat nav worked. I had to find a supermarket to buy a map but luckily I found one that sold USB cables and the car had this type of charger also. Took me 2 hours to sort out. Very poor customer service.

  • I have on a number of occasions been informed that the vehicle i have hire is fully fueled up.When i have checked the vehicle before exiting the airport i have found this not to be the case.This means going back to the hire desk & informing them of this situation which is very inconvient.This is not unique to National as i have experienced this with the other hire companys

  • National (run through Europcar) told us the car was full of Diesel. This was not true. It was only a quarter full. We did not notice until too late, so are not seeking redress, but do not think National treated us fairly as customers

  • It would be more helpful for the driver to have a brief instruction on basic controls for the model of car they are hiring. Snow tyres would have been better in the winter time rather than hiring snow chains that in the event of my holiday I did'nt require.

  • There was an error concerning the 'additional fees to be paid locally' in the contract. The actual cost was higher than stated. The reason for choosing Hertz from the list of your suppliers was because of their lower additional driver charge.

  • It is a general comment about all companies and their 'additional driver charge'. It is exorbitant and is a tax not an insurance nor a service. Only 1 person can drive the car at any one time. The charge is arbitrary, inconsistent and is the same for all value of car; therefore it is not an insurance. It isn ofetn the case that the 'additional driver' never drives the car; it is in case of unexpected circumstances. It is often a high % of the daily rate, and then to add VAT to it when there is no 'service value' added' is not correct. If Autoeurope could negotiate 1 additional driver included in all their rates it would be a massive incentive for customers to use AE. The extra driver cost is always foremost in my thoughts.

  • When our outbound flight was diverted to Lyon and held there for a few hours before flying on to Geneva Auto Europe was very helpful in contacting National car rental to advise them of this situation.

  • Collecting the car was not as efficient as it could have been due to the manual work required at the desk however returning the car amnd having the necessary checks done was very efficient.

No directions given for returning car (it is not clearly marked at all when driving back to the airport) even though these are available at the Swiss side. No response to an email regarding something I had left in the car and wanted returning (Swiss motorway Vignette)

  • Two minors comments - 1. Tank was NOT full of fuel as we were told it would be - we did try to ring back but had difficulty getting through 2. Van was not that clean - chocolate has been spilt in storage compartment in front of van

  • I wish to strongly comment the two gentlemen who were on duty in the AVIS office on the morning of our return to Geneva - they were exceptionally helpful and went beyond the call of duty. We had found it very difficult to find the French side of the airport and they helped us. Please pass on our most sincere thanks and praise to the AVIS managers.

  • Everything went well, car as expected (Renault Grand Scenic). Came with Sat Nav as well! One small hiccup however, the snow chains ordered were not new and clips were bent so could not be used. Budget/Avis were helpful and said that they will not charge for them, but it meant that I could not use the car for two days due to heavy snow on the roads. Otherwise, everything was a good experience.

  • At Geneva Airport there appears to be no direction signs to take arriving passengers to the French Car Hire Offices. We followed the car hire directions and ended up on the Swiss hire desks and had to trail back across the whole airport. the service itself was good

  • Better directions signs are needed at Geneva Airport on arrival as all car hire direction signs lead one to the Geneva Hire Car desk. We had to trail back right across the airport to get to the French Hire Car Desk. Not your fault but you might be able to highlight the problem
