We have a house in spain,(Alicante) where we have used your car hire service many times in the past, but we are now re-considering because of the unjust way that we are being overcharged for a tank of fuel, both in quantity and high cost per litre at the airport, and having to return the car supposedly empty, but having to have fuel left in the tank for the return journey.not only that we do not always wish to be driving around just to use the fuel! Surely it is more wear and tear on the car and bad for the environment, which does not make sense! Please do not tell me again that this is the rule in Spain, because it is known that some smaller companies do full/full, which is much fairer!!!!

Our Response: Hi Michael Most Spanish companies charge full to empty fuel policy. Europcar and National has full to full but in most cases the rates are much higher. Our Response: Hello Mr Colpus. There will be an extra charge which is states as the Senior Driver Surcharge : Drivers over the age of 70 are required to pay approximately EUR 4.60 per day, paid locally, VAT included. Many Thanks

They are kind, efficient and extremely patient and have helped me get the best possible rate for my 3 month booking in Pisa, Italy next April. Your best rate policy is on a par to the John Lewis never knowingly undersold policy. No arguments, just plain good service and these days it means a lot. Car rental at Faro Portugal vis auto europe was with Guerin rent a car. Best experience all round for ages so much better than Europcar who had huge line of customers forced to wait outside. Highly recommended.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Auto Europe. The best customer service I have experienced for a long time. We booked a car for a week's holiday and my wife was rushed to hospital the night before, I rang to cancel the car reservation and the operator was very sympathetic and cancelled the car for me immediately. She said I would need to call back to customer services to inquire about the refund of the 3 day car hire cost that would normally be incured due to the last minute cancellation. It was a week later when I had the opportunity to call customer services and they confirmed that the full car hire amount had already been refunded and should already be in my bank account. When I checked, she was absolutely correct. Again the customer service representative was friendly, was able to access my account details very quickly and even wished my wife a speedy recovery. It's so great not have to fight to be treated well. Fantastic, proactive, customer service and I don't say that often, if ever! I will definately use Auto Europe again and would recommend them to others!

I should like to compliment you on the very good service I experienced while hiring a car in Italy earlier this year. I booked a compact car for a week which I collected from Pisa airport. The car was clean and tidy but I noted it had a very slight vibration when driving it. After a couple of days the vibration although not serious was just enough to play on my nerves and spoil my enjoyment of the car. I contacted your Pisa Airport office and asked if I might be able change the car. They were extremely courtious and helpful and allowed me to change the car half way through my hire period with out any fuss and carried out all the paper work for me quickly. I was not sure if they did not at the time have another car of the same category but I was given a car of the next size up. I live in Singapore. I found out about Auto-Europe through its website as I needed to hire a car to drive in Northern Italy for a week in April 2009. As it was my first encounter with Auto Europe, I had many questions which their staff answered promptly through email. They were polite and efficient. Even though I was concerned that I was to pick up the station wagon from Maggiore, a car rental company I had never heard of, the staff assured me that Maggiore is a reliable company. Having returned from my trip, I totally agree that Maggiore is an excellent car rental company. Maggiore's service was excellent, the station wagon was exactly what I requested (chances of this is like hitting the lottery!!), it was a brand new car and everything was just perfect! I am so happy with Auto-Europe that I have recommended friends to go through Auto Europe should they need to rent a car. Auto-Europe is trust worthy, their rates are significantly cheaper (including rental of GPS), and they are organised and efficient. I would definitely use Auto Europe again.

Re: recent bookings for Bangkok Airport (First reference Voucher UK 1488641 26 Jan 09. Excellent! Good service on both rentals, first supplier Avis and second Thai rent a car, both very easy and helpful. Only comment, had to sign for higher deposit than on vouchers (Avis 8,000 Baht and Thai Car rental 5,000) but apart from that all good!

Having just phoned "Contact Us" for help, it was such an unusual, unexpected and pleasant surprise to speak to an efficient and easily understood human being instead of the usual pantomine of waiting 15-20 mins after pressing endless keys, finally wanting to slit your throat when eventually being told you are even in a queue and the operators are so busy at the moment, you would do better to try again! We are very impressed with Auto Europe. This was our first rental & the car's roof, bonnet & windscreen were damaged by hailstones (that were the size of conkers) in a violent storm in France. We paid the excess at Geneva but assumed we'd get nothing back as most of that appeared not to be covered. We got the full amount within a couple of weeks, thank you!

Why no telephone number for contacting reservations from outside the U.K. I booked a car at 08.00 for pick up at Stansted the following day. By 18.00 no voucher had arrived, being able to contact your reservations office would have been helpful.

Very noticeably, her tone of voice was not patronising on account of my ignorance nor could any irritation or boredom be detected. this is the 1st time I've used any car hire and wish you to thank her again for all her help. I will be phoning again to make my booking and assume there will be no additional charge for paying by credit card - the only question I forgot to ask.

Excellent help from Toby at Internet Reservations (14-Dec-2007 at 21:00 GMT) who was able to sort out the following two problems (for a booking in South Africa)that can arise and not be resolved by a customer using the website . 1) One Way Rental changes I needed to change the pick-up and drop off times for a one-way rental. But since a "requested quote" is sent with the drop off charge, instead of the hire voucher, one can only pay for the quote as it stands, or start a new booking. But starting a new booking process is picked up as a duplicate hire so gets cancelled. Toby was able to modify the times on the first booking to those requested on the second booking. 2) 'Missing' Airlines The following South African airlines are not listed on the drop down list: 'Mango Airlines','1Time', and 'Kulula' Although Kulula and Mango are subsidiary companies of British Airways and South African Airways respectivly - they both have different flight codes, and 1Time is an indepentent company. Toby was able to add the Mango flight number to the voucher which was not possible with available drop down menus from the website. This is the 5th time we have used AutoEurope for rental bookings and we look certain to use them as the first choice in the future.

When we go away we always use a hire car. Auto Europe was brought to my attention earlier this year on a price comparison site, so we booked with you. That one decision turned out to be one of our best this year. The mark of a good company in my book, is how they treat their customers when things go wrong. Not that Auto Europe did anything wrong, on the contrary you did everything right. We had to cancel our holiday at the very last minute (in the departure lounge of the airport). We thought we'd lost the lot financially, in-fact we did, a big chunk of it...but then we called Auto Europe. What an absolute breath of fresh-air. This was customer satisfaction at its highest level in my book. Having explained our predicament....for the first time that day we were actually LISTENED TO AS A CUSTOMER and offered an understanding ear. Auto Europe have General Terms & Conditions with regards refunds like many companies but that's where the similarity stops. Like I said Auto Europe actually listened and were understanding. Without hesitation you said you would give us a refund minus an administration fee, which was great in itself. Other responses we'd received that day from airlines, hotels, tour companies etc, etc. just didn't want to know, so this gesture from Auto Europe was a bonus. But then it got even better. I was asked to hold the line while you discussed something....I was then told that you would even drop the administration fee and I'd receive a full unconditional refund. You didn't have to do that, but you did and that's what set you apart. That extra little gesture meant everything. And we thank you sincerely. Now guess which hire car company we're going to use year after year from now on....Auto Europe. Guess which hire car company all of our friends are now using....Auto Europe. Guess which hire car company we've told all our work colleagues about....Auto Europe. And guess which hire car company we've told all our business associates to use.....that's right, Auto Europe. That's a thank you for your gesture. I want to compliment you all at Auto Europe on not only a terrifically priced product but also a fantastic service. Just a quick thank you for the hire car we had off you from 01-19 July 06 at Munich Airport. We have hired cars a number of times abroad from other companies and always had good cars but often been let down by the service (long queues and staff not being able to access the booking). However on this occassion we can say quiet easily that the service was faultless the lady who dealt with us at the check in was efficent, friendly and very professional. We were very impressed by the speed with which the rental was done which allowed us to leave quickly to enjoy our holiday. The car was also very good (though it was difficult to have faith in the sat nav which we have never used before on the way back to the airport when on hitting a traffic jam it ended up taking us on minor roads and residential areas however it worked even if I was a bit stressed on winding country lanes!) THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PROMPT SERVICE!!! I reserved a car for rental in Portugal this year, at a very good price. Like an idiot I reseved it for June 1st NOT July 1st, when I went on holiday. Of course the rental company would not accept my voucher, then they ripped me off with the depot price. But in all fairness - it was MY fault. Thank you Auto Europe for returning the unused car payment within days of my returning home and reporting my stupidity.

We recently hired a car from Downtown Halifax Alamo and would like to record how helpful the staff at the office were. Our train was late so they waited for us as we had rung them from the train. Alamo had an office at the Hotel next to the station as well as their main office which was about to close when we arrived. They drove us to their main office at the other end of the City (2km away) to collect the car and then checked that we had driven an automitic car before and were familiar with the controls. Usually we have been told to find the car in the car park.

We do though have an excellent newsletter subscription service that does offer additional discounts on certain Newsletters. Please subscribe on the home page and avail of these offers. Alternatively if you do have third parties visiting your home in Spain please sign up to become an affiliate on our site. This means you can earn commission from people travelling to your home and also remove the commission for your own bookings. A very easy site to navigate,similar hire sites are often full of useless rubbish,pop-ups etc.The hire rate quoted is up to 40% less than other companies.Well done!

I have had great service from you and I always hire my cars from you. My comment is that I do not like that I am expected to return the car, empty of fuel, especially if I am only hiring for 24 hours. I know I will not use much petrol, so can anything be done about this?

If you rarely use the full tank of fuel then a full to full policy would probably be best for your needs.

On our recent trip to Ireland, Me, my wife and three others arrived at Dublin Airport where I had made arrangements to collect a five seater car for four days. The reception (very easy to find) was most pleasant, the formalities were dealt with quickly and we were on out way. I've used other companies with some success and some problems but after being initially sceptical of your keen pricing I am happy to say that everything went very smoothly with Alamo. There was no problem with the free up-grade and although we had a slight problem with the car it was exchanged, indeed, up-graded yet again with a smile and an apology. Especially the overview of locations in one city (airport, trainstation, downtown etc.) is by far better compared to Sixt, Avis, etc. The overview of the car categories is also very good! I think that youe web site should be set up to give quotations for car hire without the need to log in and have a password! I wont be using you because of this!

Our Response: You may freely view rates, terms, and even request your car services without establishing a member acount. A member acount is not required to access any portion of the Auto Europe website. Those that choose to establish a member account will experience the convenience of having their personal details "remembered" the next time they return. It is a time saver for those that travel frequently. We look forward to assisting you via web or phone without ever requiring an account.
